Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi made the remark in an interview with China Global Television Network. He said in the current circumstances, there was no room for talks between the two sides.
Araghchi stressed that Iran would never negotiate under pressure.
"Talks under pressure means negotiation for surrender. Therefore, Iran is not prepared to talk to Washington, at any level," he added.
The senior Iranian diplomat also emphasised that America's unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran Nuclear Deal, has strengthened the notion that negotiations with Washington were useless and a bad idea, and "any agreement with the US was not worth the paper it was written on."
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi also criticised the three European signatories to the JCPOA -- France, Germany, and Britain -- for not being loyal to their commitments under the deal.
US President Donald Trump withdrew from the JCPOA in May 2018 and re-imposed sanctions on Iran after illegally abrogating the multilateral nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA).
Iranian authorities, including President Hassan Rouhani, have stated that Tehran would be ready for talks within the framework of the 5+1 Group, if Washington lifted all of its sanctions against the Iranian nation.
