Iran Press/ Iran news: Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Tuesday morning visited Imam Khomeini mausoleum to pay homage to the founder of the Islamic Revolution on the eve of the Ten Day Fajr celebration and the approach of the 44th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Fajr (Dawn) 10-Day is the occasion when 44 years ago Imam Khomeini returned to Iran on February 1, 1979, after a 15-year of exile by the Shah regime, and 10 days later ended in the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Every year, Iranians mark the anniversary of their Islamic Revolution from February 1 to 11, known as the Ten-Day Fajr ceremonies.
The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 44 years ago, on February 11, 1979, ending 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.
The Islamic Revolution, led by Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
The festivities, known as the Ten-Day Dawn, start with ceremonies that mark the return to Iran of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, after 15 years in exile.
