Iran Press/ Iran news: The Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran added: "There is no difference between the first stage of the elections and the run-off polls, as they are equally important."
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that elections in themselves are a fundamental task for the country and the people. Elections are a sign of the presence of the people and a sign of the will and decision of the people. Therefore, every person who wants to contribute to the country's progress and great goals must participate in elections.
He continued: "After the first stage of the elections, however, some seats in the parliament are still vacant, and in the second stage, the other constituencies' representatives will be elected."
Iran's Leader stated: "In the runoff election, the remaining seats would be decided thus If we do not participate in the run-off polls, we have left the work of the first stage half-finished. The more votes there are, the stronger the parliament will be, and stronger measures can be done in the parliament for the country."
The first round of the 12th parliamentary elections was held on Friday, March 1st. Of the country's 87 million people, more than 61 million were eligible to vote in the polls.
Voters were taking part in the run-off elections to choose 45 seats from 290 legislative body members from over 15,000 candidates.
Elected members will serve for a term of four years in the parliament.
