Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy traveled to the Iraqi Kurdistan region to explore ways for cooperation with the officials of this region in trade.

Iran PressMiddle East: Mahdi Safari, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, held a joint meeting with the governors and heads of economic organizations and prominent businessmen of Sulaimaniyah and Halabja provinces on Sunday night.

Safari last night at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sulaymaniyah attended the meeting with the governors of Sulaymaniyah and Halabja, the chairman of the governorate council and governor of Sulaymaniyah, the heads of chambers of commerce of Sulaymaniyah and Halabja, the president of the Iraqi Kurdistan Exporters and Importers Union and other economic and collective organizations.

The event was also attended by big businessmen from Sulaimaniyah and Halabja provinces.

In this meeting, which was also attended by the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mehdi Shoushtari, the present economic officials and officials, by listing some problems and obstacles in the current relations between the two countries,  called for solving the problems with the aim of further developing trade and economic relations with the Islamic Republic.

The Deputy Minister of Economy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referring to the many capacities and fields of cooperation and the many historical, religious and cultural commonalities between Iran and the Kurdistan Region, did not consider the increase of trade relations between the two sides out of reach.

He also called on the officials of the economic organizations present at the meeting to cooperate and help them as much as possible to achieve this.

Safari also pointed to the high potential of Iranian companies and the superior quality of their products, and announced the readiness of Iranian companies to jointly invest in the Kurdistan region.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy has traveled to Sulaimaniyah to discuss ways to develop trade relations with the Iraqi Kurdish region.
