Tehran (IP) - In a phone call, the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Ireland exchanged views on bilateral issues and the latest situation in West Asia.

Iran PressIran news: The Irish Foreign Minister Michael Martin congratulated Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on his appointment and wished him success. 

The Irish Foreign Minister Micheál Martin in a statement on his X account on Monday said: "I spoke today with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and emphasized the importance of restraint on all sides at this time."

Martin added: "I noted Iran's responsibility in this respect, urged it to use its influence positively, and restated the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and across the region."

"I made clear the EU stands ready to engage with Iran if it is serious about demonstrating a commitment to peace throughout the region," Martin noted.

Regarding the developments in West Asia, Iran's top diplomat stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports any agreement between Hamas and the Palestinian people while emphasizing the need to stop the war against the people of Gaza immediately.

Araghchi pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran wants to de-escalate the tension in the region, but Netanyahu and the Zionist regime are seeking to spread violence to other regions, including the West Bank. Therefore, everyone should make an immediate and effective effort to stop the violence in Gaza. 219
