Urmia (IP)- Cherry-picking has begun in Oshnavieh, known as the Cherry Capital of Iran, a town in West Azerbaijan province in the northwest of the country.

Iran PressIran news: The average yield of cherries per hectare in Oshnavieh orchards is estimated at 7 tons, and this year more than 1,000 tons of this crop will be picked in Oshnavieh and marketed.

The cherry-picking begins in June each year and lasts for 45 days to 2 months.

Oshnavieh cherries are exported to Iraq, Turkey, and Armenia every year in addition to meeting domestic demand for cherries.

Oshnavieh is located in the south of the province of West Azerbaijan and 65 km from the city of Urmia, the capital of the province.
