Tehran (IP)- Eid al-Fitr prayers were held all over the city of Tehran, but in small crowds due to coronavirus epidemic.

Iran Press/Iran news: After one month of fasting, people held Eid al-Fitr prayer and celebrated this auspicious day. The prayer was held while health protocols and social distancing were observed by people to prevent coronavirus.

Previous years, Eid al-Fitr prayer was held at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosala with huge crowds of worshippers attending, while this year it was held all over Tehran in many different locations with small crowds attending, in accordance to advice from the Health Ministry.

Due to coronavirus, all mosques in the city were closed; but today after about three months people gathered to say Eid al-Fitr prayer and celebrate this day.

Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important festivities in Islam, is the first day of the lunar month of Shawwal in Arabic calendar. It marks the end of the holy month of Ramadhan during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.
