Qom (IP) - On the 19th night of the holy month of Ramadan, the religious ceremony on Laylat al-Qadr, was held at Hazrat Masoumeh Holy Shrine in Qom province, south to the Iranian capital city of Tehran

Iran Press/Iran News: On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali (AS), the first Shia Imam, the religious ceremony on Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Destiny, was held Tuesday at Hazrat Masoumeh Holy Shrine in Qom, observing health protocols.

Hazrat Masoumeh's holy shrine (AS), south of Tehran, has been shut down due to coronavirus outbreak.

With the decision of the National Task for Combating Coronavirus, Laylat al-Qadr religious ceremonies can be held in the open spaces and shabistans of the pilgrimage centers, with observing social distancing and health protocols.

Laylat al-Qadr or the Night of Destiny is the night of the revelation of the Qur'an to the Prophet Muhammad (S). 

The exact date of Laylat al-Qadr is unknown. However, according to many traditions, Shias hold religious ceremonies on the eve of 19th, 21st, and 23rd of the month of Ramadan, with staying awake the whole night, reciting the Qur'an, praying and performing other rituals.
