Tehran (IP) - Rejecting France and Britain's stance on the Noor satellite, Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi called it a result of their double standards and the acceptance of American bullying.

Iran Press/Iran news: The first military satellite, dubbed Noor 1 (Light 1), was launched upon Qased (Messenger) satellite carrier in the early hours of Wednesday, April 22, from a location in the central desert of Iran.

The satellite was placed into orbit 425 kilometers (265 miles) above the Earth’s surface.

Following the move by the Islamic Republic Guard Corps (IRGC), France, and Britain called it a threat to West Asia.

Calling France and Britain's position on the Noor satellite unacceptable, the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi noted, "Utilizing space technology for peaceful purposes is part of the defense program as well as the scientific development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and none of the international treaties prohibit Iran from acquiring and developing this technology."

Mousavi strongly rejected France's and Britain's unilateral wrong interpretation of Resolution 2231, and said: "Iran's nuclear program, according to the Leader's fatwa (Islamic decree) and the International Atomic Energy Agency's reports, has purely peaceful purposes and defensive purposes."

"While the United States is violating UN Security Council Resolution 2231 every day and every moment by withdrawing from the JCPOA and imposing its illegal sanctions on Iran, the inaction of European countries against the United States and the non-condemnation of that country is surprising and indicates a double confrontation and surrender to American bullying on the world stage," the spokesman highlighted.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also stated that while France and Britain are expressing concern about the security situation in the region, they had themselves had a long history of escalating tension in the region through destabilizing policies which were an important obstacle to the security and stability of the region.
