Tehran (IP) - The new chief of the cultural institute of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) believes that mass communication media have the potential to increase cooperation among the regional organization's member countries.

Iran Press/Iran News: Sarwar Bakhti who is a Tajik national made the remarks on the sidelines of appointment ceremony of the new head of the Tehran-based Economic Cooperation Organization Cultural Institute (ECI) on Monday.

In an exclusive interview with IP, he said establishing a media union that makes the ECO member countries closer together is vital, and it will be taken seriously during his term in office.

All the necessary measures will be carried out to deepen and extend the cooperation through and among the media outlets of the Economic Cooperation Organization, he added.

"By doing so we will offer service to the people living in the ECO region," Bakhti said.
