During a meeting with Russian President's Adviser Igor Levitin on Monday, Dr. Abdol-Nasser Hemmati stressed the need for quick implementation of the North-South Corridor project as an effective transit route to enhance cooperation among Iran, Russia, India, and Persian Gulf countries.

Iran Press/Iran news:  The Minister of Economy said, "We expect Russia to provide strong support for the North-South Corridor project."

Hemmati highlighted that the Iranian government supports foreign investments in this area and is prepared to facilitate participation by offering special incentives.

The Minister of Economy expressed hope for increased Russian investments in Iran, particularly in oil, logistics, and transit infrastructure projects.

Igor Levitin, an adviser to the Russian President, announced that President Putin has allocated funds for the Rasht to Astara project.

He mentioned that the project can facilitate the transfer of more than 15 million tons of cargo, with the potential to increase this to 30 or even 50 million tons.

He also announced that the President of Russia issued a special order to expedite the implementation of the North-South Corridor project. He stated, "The project implementation has commenced as per the order, and it is being executed by VTB Bank."

Levitin stated, "The first part of the North-South Corridor project, including its technical aspects, has been completed. Now, we need to coordinate with the Ministry of Economy to begin the implementation phase."
