Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahain called on the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for the international body's explicit response to the terrorist attack carried out by Israel on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.

Iran PressIran news: The Israeli regime targeted the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus on Monday afternoon, which caused significant damage to the consulate building and neighboring structures and the martyrdom of 7 Iranian military advisors to the Syrian Army.

Publishing a message on his X account on Tuesday night, Amir-Abdollahain wrote about his telephone conversation with the UN chief Guterres and said he recalled the UN and its Security Council's responsibilities in the establishment of international peace and security and called for the UN's due response to the Israeli regime's recent terrorist attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria. 

Guterres, for his part, condemned the Israeli attack and expressed condolence to Iran over the incident. 

He expressed concern about the immediate establishment of a ceasefire, the sending of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the need to prevent the war from getting spread.
