Europe (IP) - On Wednesday, on his Twitter account, the Deputy Secretary-General of the European Union pointed to intensive talks with the Deputy Director of the Iranian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs.

Iran PressEurope: Deputy Secretary-General of the European Union Enrique Mora noted that a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues, including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) negotiations and strategies related to the Persian Gulf, were discussed.

On Wednesday, Deputy Director of the Iranian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri, pointing to the meeting with EU envoy, said that he had a constructive meeting with Enrique Mora in Doha.

Bagheri added that he exchanged opinions about some issues, including negotiations to lift sanctions.

Bagheripreviously sat down with the leaders of France, Germany, and England in Norway.

According to the Financial Times, Robert Mali, the US special envoy for Iran affairs, recently met several times with Amir Saeid Iravani, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations.

The report added that the meetings were the first direct contact between Iranian and US officials after the withdrawal of the US from the JCPOA during the presidency of Donald Trump in 2018.

Financial Times cited an informed source close to the administration of Joe Biden as saying that the Tehran-Washington talks were primarily focused on the possibility of exchanging prisoners with Iran.
