Tehran (IP) - Iranian border police commander Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi said that Iran establishes the security of Iranian and foreign Arbaeen pilgrims at Iran's borders.

Iran Press/Iran news: Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi, the Commander of Iran Border Guards, in a press conference on Monday, said: "Security of Border is more important during Arbaeen pilgrimage and the greatest efforts have been done to secure the pilgrims' passage at the borders to prevent any security incidents."

Referring to coordination with the Iraqi Police Border Guard, General Ahmad said: Since the beginning of the year for the Arbaeen Pilgrimage 2022,116 meetings have been held with Iraqi counterparts.

Brigadier General Goudarzi said now our forces are present at seven border crossings across Iran, and thousands of Iraqi buses will also assist Iran in the transportation of pilgrims.

Commander of Iran Border Guards said that Iranian forces equipped with advanced systems, can communicate with the police station and Iraqi border guards at any moment.

Referring to the statistics of the first five months of the year, he said: More than 22 thousand billion Rials of smuggled goods have been seized by police from smugglers.

Goudarzi added that the discovery of 1,125 weapons from smugglers band shows an increase of 23% compared to last year.

He said that more than 15 tons of drugs were discovered and 3,800 smugglers were arrested. Also, 187 vehicles and heavy machinery were discovered.

124 kilometers of new border road has also been constructed and efforts have been made to reach these borders with fiber optics, he concluded.
