Iran Press/ Middle East: Iran's international nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed between the country and the P5+1 group, including Russia, China, the UK, France, the US and Germany) in 2015, but the US withdrew from the agreement on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Muscat on Wednesday. After meeting with the Omani authorities, he told the reporters: "In this visit, some regional issues were discussed, and the importance of peace, stability, and progress in the region through the cooperation of the regional countries was emphasized."
With regard to the JCPOA, Amir-Abdollahian said: "During the meeting with the Omani officials, it was emphasized that if the other parties, especially the Americans, do not stop hypocricy, and the Westerners do not act realistically, it is not clear that how long the window opened today for the continuation of negotiations will remain open."
He also pointed out that Iran would welcome any initiative by Oman which would lead to reaching a strong and sustainable agreement between the parties.
