Iran (IP) - The Commander of Iran's Border Guard reported the dismantling of the foreign-backed gangs in the southeast zero-point border of the country.

Iran PressIran news: Brigadier General Ahmad-Ali Goodarzi reported the arrest of anti-Revolution terrorists in the Saravan district of Sistan and Baluchistan and the dismantling of 18 gangs in the zero-points southeastern borders of the country. 

General Goodarzi said that the individuals planned to smuggle drugs and weapons into Iran, as some of them were killed and some were arrested. 

Noting that the illegal items seized this [Persian] year have increased 24 percent compared to the previous year, the head of the Iranian border guards with the deployment of drones in the south-eastern regions of Iran, all movements of terrorists and gangs are monitored.

Despite the sanctions, Iran has the highest number of drug seizures in the world - more than 1,000 tons of narcotics per year – and has suffered more than 12,000 martyrs and injured.

The UN has named Iran as a flag bearer in the fight against narcotics.
