Tehran (IP) - The head of the Iranian Steel Structures Association said, "To build four million houses in the next five years, we need 20 million tons of steel structures, and this potential exists in Iran."

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at the 13th National Steel and Structures Conference at the Olympic Hotel in Tehran, Siamak Epekchi said: With 500 steel structure production factories, the potential to produce four million tons of these structures exists.

Referring to housing as the most important concern of the people, he said: We need 50 kilograms of steel per square meter of building, and considering the four million houses promised to the people, we need to supply and produce 20 million tons of steel structures.

Stating that the steel industry is not in good condition, he said: The initial capital for setting up steel raw material factories in rials and supplying products in dollars, power and gas outages, lack of specialized and efficient manpower, inability to export due to sanctions, and inability to provide cheap financing are among the problems of this industry.

The 13th National Conference on Structures and Steel kicked off today, Wednesday, in a ceremony attended by the Mauritanian Ambassador, Professor Rahaei, President of Amir Kabir University, Pirouz Hanachi, a faculty member of the University of Tehran, and Esmaeil Razzaghi, Head of the Second African Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Education, at the Olympic Hotel in Tehran.

On the sidelines of this conference, the National Exhibition on Structures and Steel will also be held, with prominent companies in this field participating.
