Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations has requested an emergency meeting of the Security Council to discuss the terrorist aggression of the Zionist regime, its warmongering, and the ongoing crimes in Lebanon and the region.

Iran Press/America: In a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the rotating President of the Security Council, Samuel Žbogar, Amir Saeid Iravani requested the 15-member council to hold an emergency meeting regarding the Israeli aggression and the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

The Islamic Republic strongly condemns the cowardly acts of aggression. Iran is deeply concerned about the severe consequences of these actions on regional and international peace and security. Iran urges the Security Council to decisively and strongly condemn the Israeli regime.

The Israeli military campaign in southern Lebanon began on Monday, October 2. In a significant development, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah resistance movement, was martyred during an Israeli air raid on Saturday.
