Iran Press/ West Asia: On the sidelines of the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in the Swiss city of Geneva, Amir-Abdollahian met and held talks with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi on Monday.
While congratulating Indonesia for holding the recent successful election and its membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amir-Abdollahian thanked the country for its good efforts in recent months to support Palestine and invited his Indonesian counterpart to pay a visit to Tehran.
Referring to the signing of 11 documents during Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Indonesia, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the need for follow-up of the two sides to fully implement the resulting agreements.
Pointing to the importance of using Islamic countries from their potential, including cutting off economic and trade cooperation with the Zionist regime, he emphasized the importance of putting pressure on the regime to end the genocide against the Palestinians.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's threat of a massive military attack on Rafah has exposed the region to a major catastrophe, he said, adding that urgent action by the international community, including Islamic countries, is necessary.
Marsudi, for her part, emphasized the importance of the signed documents between the two countries, calling for the necessity of implementing the resulting agreements.
She urged enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including science.
Referring to the underway mass killing in Gaza due to hunger, shortage of medicine, and medical needs, she called on the Islamic countries to take effective action to prevent such humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave.
