Iran Press/ Iran News: On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbas republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, but aimed to demilitarize and denazify the country.
In a telephone conversation with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó on Wednesday, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian called for a political solution to end the Ukrainian crisis.
Amir-Abdollahian also referred to the Vienna talks and said a good deal was impending but there were remained some points of difference between Iran and the US that would be mediated by the EU's chief negotiator.
Péter Szijjártó for his part expressed hope that with the constructive approach of all parties a good agreement would be reached.
Szijjártó invited his Iranian counterpart to visit Hungary, stressing that his country within the framework of the government's foreign policy is committed to developing bilateral cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
