Iran Press/ Iran news: General Zakir Hasanov, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on Wednesday, had a telephone conversation with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to the public relations report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, in this Telephone conversation, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while thanking the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces for sending a delegation and holding a meeting of the Joint Commission on Military Cooperation, suggested holding joint exercises between the armed forces of the two countries and said: "The Republic of Azerbaijan adheres to the sovereignty of countries according to international principles and does not covet for the territory of its neighbors."
In this telephone conversation, Major General Bagheri, while appreciating Azerbaijan's good hosting of the delegation of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic, denied the news published in some media about the deployment and reinforcement of military forces on the border of Azerbaijan and said: "There is good security in the common borders of the two countries."
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, reemphasizing the policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran that the Karabakh region belongs to the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, announced the readiness of the Islamic Republic for any assistance in resolving the conflict in this region.
The parties also expressed their opposition to the presence and intervention of foreign countries in the affairs of the region.
At the end of this telephone conversation, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan again invited Major General Bagheri to visit the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The visit of the military delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the head of the International Relations Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces to the Republic of Azerbaijan was carried out in the form of the agreements of face-to-face meetings and the recent telephone conversation of Major General Bagheri with General Zakir Hasanov.
