Tehran(IP): The Deputy Minister of Port and Economic Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran announced a 13% increase in the container Terminal operations of Iranian ports in the first five months of the current Iranian year compared to the same period last year.

Iran PressIran news:  According to the Ports and Maritime Organization, Farhad Montaser Kouhsari referred to the 13% growth of Container Terminal operations in Iranian ports during the first five months of the current year compared to the same period last year, saying: "During this period, a total of 906,218 TEU of container goods have been unloaded and loaded in the country's ports."

It is noteworthy that a Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) is an exact unit of measurement used to determine cargo capacity for container ships and terminals.

Regarding Container Terminal operations in the first five months of the current Iranian year and the organization's plans to increase it, he said: "In this period, a total of 906,218 TEU of container goods have been unloaded and loaded in the country's ports, which is a growth of 13% compared to 798." 

He continued: "The highest amount of Container Terminal operations is related to Shahid Rajaei port in the amount of 694,450 TEU, which is 87% of the country's container operations, and this growth rate occurred while most of the country's ports were facing the COVID-19 red situation, but thanks to the planning and the observance of health protocols, Iran witnessed an increase in container performance in the maritime sector of the country.
