The 20th Joint Consular Commission between Iran and Turkey convened in Ankara, with senior officials from both countries discussing various consular issues and enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Iran PressAsia: The meeting, which took place on November 14, 2024, was led by Vahid Jalalzadeh, Deputy Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Affairs at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Burhaneddin Duran, Deputy Consular at Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides reaffirmed their strong political, economic, and cultural ties, focusing on issues such as the welfare of students and citizens, judicial and police cooperation, and the implementation of agreements on prisoner transfers and extraditions. They also discussed facilitating the movement of citizens and enhancing regular legal dialogues to address cross-border issues.

The previous session of this commission took place in January 2023, with representatives from both governments and relevant agencies working together to continue improving consular services between the two nations.
