As part of the growing scientific and technological collaboration between Iran and Indonesia, two additional remote robotic surgery systems, designed and manufactured by Iranian specialists, have been successfully installed in Wahidin Hospital in Makassar and Adam Malik Hospital in Medan, Indonesia.

Iran PressAsia: These advanced systems were developed by the Iranian company Sina Robotic and Medical Innovators. Previously, two other Iranian robotic surgery systems were successfully installed and are still in use at hospitals in Bandung and Yogyakarta.

The collaboration has been facilitated by the increased academic and technological exchange between the two nations following the signing of a memorandum of cooperation during President Ebrahim Raisi’s official visit to Indonesia in June 2023. This visit marked a significant step in strengthening ties, particularly in the fields of science and technology.During a later visit by the Indonesian Ministry of Health to Tehran, six cooperation agreements were signed, including two specifically focused on the establishment of robotic surgery training centers in Makassar and Medan. These developments highlight the deepening of scientific and medical ties between the two countries.

The remote surgery robot, known as the Sina Robotic Surgeon, was initially unveiled at the 2015 International Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INOTEX) in Tehran, underscoring its advanced capabilities. The collaboration continues to bolster Iran’s growing influence in medical technology and its export capacity to Indonesia, particularly in the medical field.

This partnership builds upon the success of previous efforts and showcases the ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, especially as both countries aim to expand their economic, political, and cultural relations.
