Iran and Egypt, two historically influential nations, are ramping up diplomatic efforts to address regional conflicts and promote peace, says Iran’s government spokesperson.

Iran PressIran news:  Iran and Egypt, long united by shared history and cultural ties, are increasingly positioning themselves as pivotal forces in the pursuit of peace within the Middle East and beyond, according to Fatemeh Mohajerani, Iran’s government spokesperson.

In a live press briefing, Mohajerani underscored the growing role of both nations in countering regional instability, particularly in light of the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon, which she described as an unprecedented crisis fueled by Israeli aggression.

"No one benefits from escalating tensions in the region or globally," Mohajerani remarked, emphasizing that both Iran and Egypt are committed to peace through diplomatic channels.

Though diplomatic ties between Tehran and Cairo have been fraught for decades, recent events have seen a marked shift in their relationship, with both countries strengthening their engagement. The Gaza conflict has spurred high-level talks, with Egypt seeking a mediating role.

In a notable step, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi visited Cairo in October to discuss regional issues, while Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty traveled to Tehran in July for the inauguration of Iran’s newly elected parliamentary speaker. Additionally, President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held talks at the D-8 summit, further signaling the deepening diplomatic collaboration between the two nations.

This renewed diplomatic engagement marks a significant shift in the dynamics of the Middle East, with Iran and Egypt looking to play a central role in resolving regional conflicts and fostering global peace.
