(IP) – Afghan and Iranian officials discussed the establishment of a joint consular commission.

Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, head of the Afghan embassy to Tehran, and Mir Anwar Ghafari, the head of the consular department of the Afghanistan embassy, met with Alireza Mahmoudi, Director General of Consular Affairs at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and exchanged views on the expansion of consular cooperation.

The Afghanistan Embassy to Iran has announced that the parties discussed the inauguration of a joint consular commission, issuing passports for infants and students, and issues faced by Afghan immigrants in Iran.

The good relationship between the people of Iran and Afghanistan, along with the frequent travel of Afghan citizens to Iran and the presence of Afghan immigrants in Iran for over forty years, has led them to view the Islamic Republic of Iran as their second home.
