Iran Press/Asia: Reza Salehi-Amiri, Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, announced this morning in a meeting with Juma Khanzadeh, Chairman of the Tajik Tourism Committee, in Dushanbe that the country’s health tourism revenue will increase to $6 billion in a five-year plan.
Referring to the joint capacities of Iran and Tajikistan in the field of tourism, Salehi-Amiri emphasized that the two countries have not yet reached an appropriate level of cooperation, especially in attracting tourists.
The Iranian Minister of Tourism added: The number of tourists from the two countries is about 8,500, and we must improve this statistic by introducing common values, producing high-quality content and attractive films, using elites and celebrities, and offering special discounts.
Salehi-Amiri stated that last year Iran welcomed 1.2 million health tourists with an income of $2 billion, and said: It is planned to increase this figure to $6 billion and attract 200,000 new tourists annually.
He also announced the preparation for the abolition of visas between the two countries and stated: This decision will be finalized during the President's upcoming visit to Tajikistan.
At this meeting, Juma Khanzadeh, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Tajikistan, welcomed the proposals put forward, announced Tajikistan's readiness to strengthen tourism relations, and emphasized the need to exchange experiences and introduce the capacities of the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, the representatives of Iran and Tajikistan agreed to develop the necessary mechanisms to strengthen tourism cooperation.
