Iran Press/West Asia: The bilateral meeting took place on the sidelines of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), organized annually by the United Nations to discuss internet governance issues with participation from government, private sector, and academic representatives.
During the discussions, the two officials expressed mutual interest in strengthening collaboration within the ICT sector. Key areas of focus included utilizing shared infrastructure, exchanging experiences in developing local ICT platforms and messaging applications, enhancing postal and fiber-optic collaboration, pursuing joint artificial intelligence projects, and fostering innovation within ICT-related startups and knowledge-based enterprises.
Both sides emphasized leveraging the capabilities of Iranian private sector companies to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s large-scale ICT initiatives. They also agreed to formalize their intentions by drafting a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to pursue these outlined areas of cooperation.
The meeting highlights the growing potential for cross-border collaboration in technology between Iran and Saudi Arabia as the two nations seek to capitalize on their technological expertise and infrastructure for mutual benefit.
