Islamabad (IP)- Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam met the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.

Iran Press/Asia: Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari, in this meeting, said there is a need to promote barter trade and economic relations in the interests of Iran and Pakistan. There is a wide scope for increasing economic cooperation in various fields between the two countries. The President expressed his determination further to strengthen the relations between the two brotherly countries, he emphasized working together to overcome the common challenges faced by the two countries.

On this occasion, Iranian Ambassador Raza Amiri Moghaddam congratulated President Asif Ali Zardari on his appointment as President of Pakistan. The Iranian ambassador, expressing his views said that Iran-Pakistan's historical, religious and cultural relations are getting stronger with time and there is a need to increase trade volume, and banking cooperation, meanwhile, there is a great need for expansion of air and business links between the two countries.

Raza Amiri Moghadam further said that Pakistan can benefit from the Chabahar-Zahedan railway for trade with Central Asia, Europe and Turkey. He said that it is hoped that Pakistan-Iran relations will get a new impetus under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari. The Iranian Ambassador also conveyed a congratulatory message to the President of Pakistan on behalf of the Iranian President Syed Ebrahim Raisi.
