Tehran (IP)- Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Ehsan Khandouzi, and Japan's Ambassador to Tehran, Tamaki Tsukada, met in Tehran on Saturday to review the state of economic relations between the two countries. They emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of customs and tax agreements to boost trade and investment.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's Economic Minister, Ehsan Khandouzi highlighted the progress made during the presidency of Ayatollah Raisi, stating that the upcoming administration should prioritize the development of bilateral ties.

He also mentioned that the "avoidance of double taxation" and "customs cooperation" agreements are awaiting final approval, which will be crucial for increased trade and investment between the two countries.

The Minister of Economy added that the Iranian government is working to remove obstacles for Japanese companies operating in Iran, citing the favorable conditions for investment without US sanctions.

He expressed appreciation for Japan's positive stance towards Iran and noted that the administration of Ayatollah Raisi had focused on increasing oil and non-oil exports to restore Iran's long-term economic growth. Khandouzi also mentioned that a list of requests and proposals from Japanese companies would be reviewed and that the two countries would work together to overcome any obstacles.

Japan's Ambassador Tsukada expressed his condolences on Ayatollah Raisi's passing and believed that the relations between the two countries would expand further in the future.

Tsukada stated that the process of reviewing and implementing the agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and customs cooperation is ongoing in Tokyo and that he would convey the Iranian Minister's emphasis on finalizing these agreements to Tokyo. He also noted that Japanese private sector companies have a positive assessment of Iranian markets.
