Tehran (IP) - The Commander in Chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army and Belarusian Commander of the Air Force, in a meeting in Tehran, discussed plans to expand interaction between the two sides against common threats, including the US sanctions and the expansion of NATO.

Iran Press/Iran news: During a visit to Tehran on Wednesday, Commander of the Air Force of Belarus Andrey Lukyanovich held separate meetings with Iran’s Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Air Force Commander Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh.

In these meetings, the Iranian Army chief said Tehran and Minsk face common threats and have mutual interests.

Iran's Army Chief Major General Mouasvi while denouncing the sanctions imposed by the US and Western governments against Iran and Belarus, said both nations are standing against the US’ unilateralism and the expansion of NATO.

The Iranian general while hailing Belarus’ strategic and special position against NATO expansion, praised the fair and independent stances that Minsk has adopted on the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh.

Mousavi also highlighted Iran’s determination to enhance military and defense cooperation with Belarus, saying Iran has valuable experiences against the world powers during eight years of war in the 1980s and in fighting terrorism.

For his part, the Belarusian general expressed his country’s willingness to broaden and deepen military relations with Iran.

Belarusian senior military official stated that Minsk is opposed to the US unilateralism and the expansion of NATO.
