Iran Press/ Africa: The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, has traveled to the country at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Algeria to participate in the 7th Summit of the Assembly of Gas Exporting Countries, at the head of a political-economic delegation, attended the Djamaa el Djazaïr (the Great Mosque of Algiers ), in the capital of Algeria and while paying visit to different parts of this mosque, he was informed about its construction process.
Djamaa el Djazaïr (the Great Mosque of Algiers), with Algerian Islamic architecture, is considered the third largest mosque in the world after Al-Nabi Mosque and Al-Haram Mosque.
Raisi called unity and cohesion one of the most essential needs of the Muslim world today and said that creating unity and cohesion among the Islamic Ummah is one of the important functions of mosques and they play an effective role in this regard.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a meeting with the imam of Djamaa el Djazaïr (the Great Mosque of Algiers), mentioned the "spread of religious teachings of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH)", "addressing the situation of worshipers and paying attention to solving their problems" among the important functions of mosques. He further added that today, raising awareness about the oppressed Palestinian Muslims in the Gaza Strip, as the main issue of the world of humanity, should be at the center of the activity of mosques in Islamic lands.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also stated that fortunately, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria have a single position on the Palestinian issue, and said that if the same common positions in supporting the oppressed Palestinian nation and confronting the Zionist regime had existed in the entire Islamic world, would the Zionists dare to commit such a crime against the oppressed Palestinians?
The imam of Djamaa el Djazaïr (the Great Mosque of Algiers ), presenting a report on the history of the construction of this mosque, pointed out the efforts of the French to change the religion and beliefs of the Algerian nation during the colonial period and said that despite these efforts, the Algerian nation still adheres to its principles and beliefs. , restored independence to this country and turned the place of colonial activities of the colonialists into the Djamaa el Djazaïr.
The Algerian imam, honoring the brave and historical positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the Palestinian issue, expressed his hope that other Islamic countries will also take steps in this direction. 219
