Tehran (IP) - In a letter addressed to governors across the country, the Minister of Interior ordered the start of the 14th presidential term elections on Sunday.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a letter addressed to governors across the country, the Minister of Interior ordered the start of the 14th presidential term elections on Sunday.

The country’s Elections Headquarters also issued a statement on the same day noting that the candidates can register as of Thursday, May 30, until Monday, June 3.

Early presidential elections are required under Article 131 of Iran’s Constitution which stipulates that a new president should be elected by public votes within a maximum of 50 days from the day when a president dies or is incapacitated.
