The Hague (IP) – The International Criminal Court (ICC) announced on Thursday that it has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Iran Press/Europe: In its statement, the ICC emphasized that Israel's acceptance of the court’s jurisdiction was not required for the warrants to be valid. The court accused Netanyahu and Gallant of engaging in acts that constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the use of starvation as a weapon of war.

The allegations stem from actions taken during the ongoing Isaeli genocide in Gaza, which have drawn international scrutiny and condemnation. The ICC, established to prosecute the most severe violations of international law, noted that its decision is based on preliminary investigations and evidence.

The ICC's founding Rome statute combined with jurisprudence from past cases involving arrest warrants against sitting heads of state oblige all 124 ICC signatory states to arrest and hand over any individual subject to an ICC arrest warrant if they set foot on their territory.
