The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) passed a critical resolution against Iran submitted by the US and European troika at its last quarterly meeting in 2024.

Iran Press/Europe: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)  Board of Governors passed a resolution on Thursday night calling on Iran to step up cooperation with the UN watchdog.

Earlier Iran's top diplomat Abbas Araghchi reiterated that Tehran will give a proportionate response to any resolution passed by the IAEA Board of Governors.

This happened as in a significant development, Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), visited Tehran for crucial discussions with Iranian officials. This visit marked an important milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Iran and the IAEA, underscoring their shared commitment to transparency and peaceful nuclear activities.

This resolution was approved with 19 votes in favor, 12 abstentions, and three votes against.

Russia, China, and Burkina Faso voted against this anti-Iranian resolution.

The so-called Core Group countries issued a joint statement in the IAEA Board of Governors on Thursday, condemning the resolution proposed by three European countries, the UK, France and Germany, against Iran's peaceful nuclear program, and as an example of the abuse of the decision-making process in the International Atomic Energy Agency and emphasized the need to support the continuation of an interactive approach with Iran to resolve the remaining safeguards issues.
