Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that a victory for Donald Trump in the upcoming U.S. presidential election could force European countries to reconsider their support for Ukraine.

Iran PressEurope:  “If what we anticipate happens, and America becomes a proponent of peace, Europe cannot continue to support a pro-war stance,” Orbán added, underscoring Europe’s growing concerns about how the U.S. election outcome may influence the conflict in Ukraine and the continent’s security.

Orbán has been vocal in his opposition to Western financial and military aid for Ukraine, aligning with Trump’s previously stated intention to end the conflict. Last week, Orbán publicly endorsed Trump, expressing his support and wishing him success in the election during a phone call.

Reports indicate that Hungary’s close ties with Moscow and its stance against financial support for Ukraine have caused friction with Brussels. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó also remarked in July that Hungary sees Trump as “an opportunity to establish peace” in Ukraine.
