Khuzestan (IP) - The Iranian Oil Minister opens the Hoveizeh Refinery of the Persian Gulf which is to collect 250 million square feet of gas being wasted to turn it into the feed of the country's refineries and petrochemical complexes.

Iran PressIran news: The projects opened with the Oil Minister, Java Owji, said in the inauguration ceremony: 

"Hoveizeh Refinery of Persian Gulf with the capacity of collecting 250 million square feet of gas burnt by the gas flares, which is to be increased up to 500 million square feet, worth $1.4 billion."

According to Minister Owji, the advantageous point of the project is that it collects harmful gases from the environment and turns them into the refineries' food. 

The steam power plant of the western Karun is worth $320 million which is to generate 160 MW of electricity, with an efficiency above 55%; 

Exploiting 40 oil wells of the Southern Azadegan joint field, with an investment of $400 million, which adds 45 million barrels of oil to the country's production; 

Providing the food for Bidboland Refinery, a project worth $100 million, which adds 25 million cubic meters of gas to the country's reservoir;

These were 4 projects opened, which according to the minister of oil worth $2.2.

Owji also named two other projects the operational phase of which is ahead:

An Igat 9th 56-inch gas pipeline with a length of 400 km which goes from Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province to Koohdasht in Lorestan Province, is worth $500 million;

He said that the pipeline is to be settled to support the western strip provinces of the country during winter when gas pressure would drop.

And the last one is the Sohrab field, a joint field, with an $800 million investment, which is planned to yield 30,000 barrels of oil.
