Iran Press/ Iran news: Commemorating the 78th anniversary of the US' nuclear bombardment of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Saturday that the permanent sinister shadow of the nuclear arsenals jeopardizes global peace and security.
Khatibzadeh referred to the US commitment to the Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) and nuclear disarmament noting that the US administration not only did take no practical step in this regard but also it had increasingly been modernizing its nuclear arsenals to elevate the place of such weapons in its military-security doctrine.
Iran had always decisively announced the use of such weapons, as against all of the human criteria and international law requirements, he reiterated.
Iran's official added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran declares its determination to advance and realize the ideal of a world free of nuclear weapons, and is always ready to cooperate constructively with the international community in this regard."
The Iranian spokesman called on all of the world's countries to take the due steps for nuclear disarmament under the Artic 6 of the NPT, away from the political biases of some countries armed with nuclear weapons. 219
