Iran Press/ West Asia: Naim Qassem, Hezbollah’s second in command, said in a statement on Friday that stability would not return to the border unless Israel ended its “aggression” in Gaza.
“The enemy must know the party is ready, that we are preparing based on the principle that an endless aggression can happen, just like our will to push back the aggression is infinite,” Qassem said.
The remarks came after The Washington Post, quoting an unnamed Western diplomat and three unnamed Lebanese officials, reported that Israel has targeted the end of January for an escalation of its conflict with Hezbollah.
Israel’s military and Hezbollah have been engaged in near-daily exchanges of cross-border fire since the October 7 attacks on Israel by Hamas. 219
