Iran Press/ Iran news: On the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, Mohammadreza Rafarghandi told Iran Press reporter about the EB bandages: "Currently, we are in a good position in the field of providing dressings for EB patients. We do not have any serious problems."
Noting that the dressing is different from the general one, Zafarghndi told Iran Press that knowledge-based companies have also worked in this field.
The Health Minister made the remarks in response to the IP reporter's question about the latest status of domestic production of EB patients' dressings.
Earlier, the Health Minister in late Raisi's Administration, in May 2024, said that the Iranian researchers achieved the formula of the bandage for EB patients despite the West's sanction on medicine for Iranian patients.
Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a rare complex group of inherited skin fragility disorders. Ideally, patients should be managed in a specialist center. EB is a lifelong disorder that requires specialist intervention and considerations to minimize complications and improve quality of life.
Following the US, Sweden refused to sell such a vital medical item to Iran.
