Tehran (IP) - The Minister of Health assessed COVID-19 disease in Iran and made some remarks regarding the mutated virus, warning about the possible stormy wave of the mutated variant.

Iran PressIran newsIran's Minister of Health Saeed Namaki on Tuesday in the Nowruz plan of intensifying the fourth phase of the national mobilization against coronavirus presented the latest evaluation of COVID-19 disease in the country.

"Contrary to some people's belief that we will be caught in the corona swamp, we have achieved good results," the health minister said.

Referring to the support and cooperation of the people in the fight against COVID-19 in the country, he added: "Our achievements are due to empathy including the implementation of the plan of Martyr Soleimani."

The top health official stressed further that Iran had achieved its goals in this plan much earlier than what had been anticipated.

Referring to the decrease in coronavirus death toll as the outcome of the implementation of the plan of Martyr Soleimani, the Minister of Health added: "These events occurred contrary to the predictions that the international system has been undergone."

The Minister of Health added: "A severe storm of the mutated virus is on its way and we must be ready."

"The mutated variant of the COVID-19 virus is much more vicious and savage than the Chinese one. The virus infects a person for 48 to 72 hours and knocks him down," Namaki said.

The Minister of Health added: "We are witnessing an example of this situation in Khuzestan so that if it were not for the sacrifice of the health system staff, we would have witnessed one of the unpleasant faces of disease management in this province."

Namaki said: "What we are witnessing is that at least there is no disgrace and distrust for the system, and this is an honor for the soldiers of the country's health system."

Referring to the issue of Nowruz trips and the aggravation of the disease in the country, he added: "I had asked the people to eliminate the travel for Nowruz, although I know that people are tired. But I'm sure they'll stay home so we can fight the virus."
