In response to the latest round of ceasefire talks held in Doha, Qatar, a spokesperson for Hamas accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of seeking to prolong the conflict rather than achieving a resolution.

Iran PressWest Asia: Jihad Taha, a spokesperson for Hamas, told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the results from the recent ceasefire negotiations in Doha did not include a commitment to the agreement reached on July 2.

He emphasized that Hamas remains committed to addressing the demands and issues of the Palestinian people. Taha asserted that the occupying regime is the sole obstacle to negotiations, a sentiment echoed by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who recently acknowledged setting new conditions to extend the aggression.

Taha further criticized Netanyahu for not seeking an agreement, accusing him of using U.S. policies to buy time and create a misleadingly positive media narrative. He claimed Netanyahu is exploiting the negotiations as a pretext to continue the horrific violence, which he described as beyond mere genocide.

The latest ceasefire talks in Doha took place on Thursday and Friday, with Israeli regime representative describing this as the "last opportunity" for reaching an agreement. On Friday, the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt issued a joint statement revealing that Washington had presented a proposal to Hamas and the Israeli regime to address remaining gaps in the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The statement noted that the proposal, supported by Egypt and Qatar, aligns with the principles outlined by President Biden on May 31, 2024, and Security Council Resolution 2735.

The proposal is designed to build on agreements made the previous week and address remaining gaps to facilitate the swift implementation of a ceasefire.
