In an outpouring of grief and solidarity, thousands gathered in Turkey, Yemen, Qatar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Palestine to honor Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau, who was assassinated in Tehran on Wednesday by Israel.

Iran Press/West Asia: The world witnessed a wave of mourning today as thousands of people in Turkey, Pakistan, Yemen, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Palestine held prayers and demonstrations in memory of Ismail Haniyeh, a prominent leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran by the Zionist regime on Wednesday, sparking widespread outrage and calls for justice.

In Turkey, crowds gathered at mosques across the country during Friday prayers, offering prayers for Haniyeh’s soul. The turnout highlighted the deep connections and solidarity felt by the Turkish people towards the Palestinian cause.

Similarly, in Yemen, media reports indicated large gatherings in several cities. In the capital, Sanaa, thousands participated in a demonstration, condemning the assassination.

Protesters voiced their anger and demanded accountability, while prayers were held for Haniyeh and the broader cause of resistance.

Moreover, thousands of Indonesians took part in memorial prayers at a mosque in Jakarta, the nation’s capital. The event underscored the global nature of the response to Haniyeh’s death, with participants expressing solidarity with the Palestinian struggle.

Palestinians in Gaza, and the West Bank also joined in the mourning, holding prayers in various locations. The simultaneous observances reflected a unified stance against what was described as a cowardly act by the Zionist regime.

In a statement, Hamas called on the Arab and Islamic nations to participate in absentee prayers for Haniyeh, urging a widespread expression of loyalty and remembrance. The movement also called for demonstrations to denounce the ongoing violence and oppression faced by Palestinians, particularly in Gaza and Jerusalem.

Haniyeh was in Tehran for the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, Haniyeh and one of his guards were killed when their residence in Tehran was targeted in the early hours of Wednesday.

The IRGC's statement offered condolences to the Palestinian people and the broader Islamic community, reaffirming a commitment to resistance against oppression.

The assassination has sparked widespread condemnation and has intensified calls for a unified response from the global Muslim community.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has warned the Israeli regime of a "harsh response" for the the assassination of Hamas's Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, saying it is the Islamic Republic's duty to avenge the blood of the Palestinian resistance leader.

“The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime martyred our dear guest in our homeland and left us bereaved, but it also set the ground for a harsh punishment for itself,” the Leader said.
