Sheikh Abdul Mumeen Dalhu, the Northern Regional Chief Imam of the Shia Muslim Community in Ghana, urged Muslims worldwide to unite on International Quds Day, calling for collective unwavering support for the oppressed people of Gaza in Palestine.

Why it matters:

International Quds Day, declared by the late Imam Khomeini, serves as a global platform for expressing solidarity with Palestinians and opposing the U.S.-backed Israeli regime's occupation of Palestine. This year's observance will be distinguished because of the unprecedented Israeli genocide in Gaza.

What we're hearing:

Sheikh Abdul Mumeen Dalhu says the day condemns U.S. support for Israel's occupation of al-Quds. It calls for responsible power use to support the oppressed, particularly Palestinians. Quds Day has its timeless message: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Context:

International Quds Day is approaching as the Israeli regime, in an all-out war on Gaza since October 2023, has massacred over 50,000 people most of them women and children. Although the war was eased during a short-lived ceasefire reached in May 2024, Israel violated it in March 2025 and resumed the carnage, killing more than 450 people.
