Iran's Parliament Speaker said he would pursue the collective pressure of the parliaments in the coming Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in Geneva.

Iran PressIran news: Upon his return to Tehran from Tajikistan on Friday, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf told reporters that the visit provided an opportunity to talk about the Israeli regime's genocide in Gaza and Lebanon and a call on the Parliamentary Union of OIC (PUIC) and IPU to put political and economic pressures on the Israeli regime to stop the genocide. 

Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf left Tehran for Dushanbe on Wednesday evening to participate in the conference on the 30th approval anniversary of the Tajikistan Republic's Constitution.

Ghalibaf said that he would pursue the agenda at the international level in the next week as the IPU meeting would be held in Geneva, Swiss. 

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime began an extensive war on the region, especially in Palestine and Lebanon, such that the regime's war on the two countries left more than 44,000 people killed.

The Iranian Parliament Speaker also addressed the development of cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan in different areas including the strengthening of transportation to boost transit and tourism in the two countries.

He also pointed to regional security as an important topic and Afghanistan as a relevant issue that was raised in the meeting; following up on a campaign against drug and weapon smuggling was an issue he referred to for regional stability and security.
