The German Interior Ministry has announced that the protection of Israeli institutions remains a top priority in Berlin, following a shooting incident near the Israeli Consulate in Munich on Thursday.

Iran PressEurope:   Nancy Faeser, Germany’s Minister of the Interior, confirmed that a "serious incident" occurred in Munich and emphasized that safeguarding Israeli centers and institutions is a national priority.

Faeser added that the suspect involved in the Munich incident was shot and killed on the scene by police.

In a post on the social media platform X, Munich police reported that officers had opened fire on a suspicious individual and neutralized the target. In response to the incident, police announced an increase in security forces near the Israeli Consulate, and the surrounding area was placed under lockdown.

The shooting took place at "Karolinenplatz," near the center of Munich. The police further stated that no other suspects or similar incidents have been reported in other parts of the city.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Israeli Consulate in Munich was closed after the shooting, and all employees were safe and unharmed.
