Following the 48-hour ultimatum of Ukraine, the Georgian ambassador in Kyiv announced that he will leave the territory of this country on Thursday.

Iran PressEurope: The tension between the two countries arose after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky summoned the Georgian Ambassador to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 3. Strong objections were raised against the Georgian Ambassador, and he was ordered to leave the country within 48 hours. This demand was made against the backdrop of the situation related to the former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili.

Zelensky called on the Georgian authorities to return the politician to Ukraine and provide him with medical care and attention.

On Wednesday, Giorgi Zakarashvili, Georgian Ambassador to Ukraine, spoke about being summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv the day before due to the health condition of former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili.

"Forty-eight hours runs out tomorrow at 12 noon. I will try my very best to leave Ukraine by 12," Ambassador Giorgi Zakarashvili told Georgia's Rustavi-2 television in reports published in Ukrainian and Russian media.

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili earlier criticised the order imposed on the ambassador as "incomprehensible and baseless", but said the envoy would soon return to his post in Kyiv.
