Moscow (IP) - Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali have discussed issues of energy cooperation, the Russian holding said in a statement on Monday.

Iran PressEurope: "A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Kazem Jalali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, took place today. The parties discussed relevant issues pertaining to their energy cooperation," the statement says.

On July 19, 2022, Gazprom and the National Iranian Oil Company signed the Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation.

The document envisages the analysis of cooperation prospects, inter alia, in the following areas: development of Iranian gas and oil fields, the performance of swap transactions with natural gas and petroleum products, implementation of large-scale and small-scale LNG projects, construction of gas trunklines, and sci-tech and technology cooperation, according to Gazprom press service.

Later, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Ahmad Asadzadeh reported that Russia was going to start developing six oil and two gas fields in Iran. He noted that Gazprom has a promising opportunity to transport its gas through Iran to neighboring countries, including Pakistan, and the countries of the Persian Gulf.

In early November 2022, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak reported that Gazprom would soon agree on the technological parameters of projects in Iran and could sign contracts for these projects by the end of November.
