Following the Thursday, 26 December 2024 attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr Hussam Abu Safiya was apprehended when the Israeli military compelled patients and medical personnel to vacate Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.
The move by the Israeli forces had generated condemnations bearly across the globe, forcing the National Association of Gambia Nurses and Midwives (NAGNM) to join the Banuagon in condemning the action of Israeli forces and showing solidarity with Palestine.
In an interview with an Iran Press Banjul reporter, Vice President Dr. Babanding Daffeh of Kanifing General Hospital described the destruction of Kamal Adwan Hospital and the arrest of its staff as unfortunate.
