"By carrying out extensive intelligence measures, the possible traffic routes of traffickers and also the planned time for the shipment of narcotic drugs to the depth of the country were determined, and the border guards implemented the containment plan and targeted ambushes destroyed 4 drug trafficking gangs in the last 24 hours in an armed conflict with dealers."
Brigadier General Goudarzi added: "Border police also managed to seize three cars carrying narcotics, three motorcycles, more than 2 tons and 416 kilograms of narcotic drugs.
The commander of Iran's police force, saying that two smugglers were also arrested, announced the discovery of several wireless devices, weapons, and ammunition from the smugglers and said: "The fight against the sinister phenomenon of drug trafficking continues seriously."
Despite the sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has the world's highest number of drug seizures seizing more than one thousand tons of narcotics per year.
